Hello! I am Maria Aguilera and I am an International Baccalaureate Programme Candidate & Class of 2019 at Ronald Reagan High School. From a young age, I knew that I wanted to provide others with my services of kindness. Therefore, my Junior year of high school I chose to go into the IB CP program and be part of the health science career path. Though I am yet to decide what career I want to go commit to, one thing is for sure and that is that I want to help others through the help I know I can provide for others. Possible careers I have in mind are physical therapy, dermatology or teaching high school students that underrepresented.
When I was only 3 years old, I immigrated from Guanajuato, Mexico and arrived to Milwaukee, Wisconsin through the sacrifices that my parents made for my sibling and I. Not only am I eternally grateful for them but also for the amazing opportunities this city and MPS have offered me. Milwaukee is a diverse city with different cultures that everyone should embrace. I know that Milwaukee has so much potential, especially in the youth. Recognizing the future leaders of the world can encourage others to speak out on their ideas and creativeness. Furthermore, I hope to inspire others with my story and how I became a successful Latinx woman in the health science community and that proud immigrant like myself can go beyond the limits and succeed to make my own dreams a reality.
